Tile Files : Sculptural Tiles

The effect of a wall covered with sculptural tiles is beyond amazing.  It becomes the focal point of the room and sets the tone for the home. Sculptural tiles can create a calm, relaxed mood with wave-like shapes or can direct a formal tone by using geometric shapes.
They can give the impression of flowing curtains or pressed tin. I think a wall of sculptural tiles in a bathroom or kitchen looks fantastic.
Here is some inspiration below. Oh, and if you want to purchase some in Australia, White Mica in Sydney, Australia have a lovely selection.

Guest Post : Inspired by the constellations

I am very enthusiastic to post the first 'guest post' here at PQID by Joanna from Arcadian Lighting. An amazing online lighting source at which she writes a great blog.

Hi there! I’m Joanna, a blogger for Arcadian Lighting. They are the premier online source for Pendant Lights, wall sconces, and lighting fixtures for the interior and exterior of the home. I’m thrilled to be posting on Private Quarters today.

My topic? Decor inspired by the constellations.

The Big Dipper, Leo the Lion and the Southern Cross are just a few of the constellation names astronomers, farmers and philosophers have come up with to make stars of the night time sky easier to distinguish. On a clear, dark night, the human eye can see over 1000 stars! To enjoy the stars indoors, here are a few ideas to inspire.

A framed antique sky atlas of the constellations creates a focal point as it dresses the wall above a vignette in a dining room.

Starburst mirrors in differing sizes cover the wall of a dining nook creating a lovely focal point. In contrast to the celestial display, the room’s other elements are quite earthy.

A formal sitting room has its ceiling covered in twinkling stars and a blue sky. A mirrored border at the top of the wall reflects the scene. A more brilliant light fixture would be lovely in this space.

An eclectic living room gets a starry touch with two large silver stars flanking the weathered armoire.

A modern artist’s space boasts a wall filled with differing size stars for a fun look. A blue wall would also be quite nice in this space.

A children’s room gets a smattering of stars and a quarter moon across the wall. This would be a perfect place for reading the bedtime story “Goodnight, Moon”.

In lovely contrast to all-white surroundings, this clever clawfoot tub takes centre stage with its hand-painted version of a starry night.

Metallic stars in gold, silver and pink hang above a beautiful tablescape set for a wedding party. It would be especially lovely if the stars encased tiny lighting fixtures to add an extra glow for a warm ambiance.

What do think of these celestial interiors? Leave us comments below and be sure to stop by our website for more inspiration on ceiling lights, chandeliers, and lighting fixtures for every room in your home!
