Vintage Stools

Vintage stools look great in a modern, bohemian, rustic country - really any style of interior. They inject a little interest into an area and are great re purposed for something other than your bum, as per the bedside example below.

Vintage Furniture in the Bathroom

Love, love, love these. Find the perfect piece and engineer it to suit your selected tapware and sink. I think I prefer a vessel sink used here instead of an inset vanity sink as it makes much more of a feature.

Check out local vintage markets and antique traders to find your perfect piece.
Marble topped vintage buffet complete with matching vintage style tapware and vessel sink. Perfect colours and tones in the tiling and marble top for vintage appeal.
What I love most about this is the paintwork has been left in its distressed state and not sanded, oiled or painted over AND that the original attached mirror has been included in the bathroom project rather than removing it and installing a wall mounted mirror. This old dresser is perfect with a simple square inset vanity sink and elegant tapware. Love the fresh yellow colour.

A gorgeous long line, cupboardless sideboard with turned legs allowing for an abundance of open storage space underneath. A simple white inset vanity sink and simple vintage tapware. Nothing elaborate, but a gorgeous result. via linenandlavender.blogspot.
A vintage desk fitted with a full vanity top and brass tapware. Loving the wallpaper and matching mirror.  via sandraespinetblog.com.
Simple vintage sideboard with turned gels with semi-inset sink and simple tapware complete the look. via conspicuiousstyle.com.
After a little scouting around I found this gorgeous vintage dresser and some tapware from the English Tapware Co and an above counter round vessel sink from Sydney Bathrooms Kitchens.

Or you can simply purchase a new, vintage inspired vanity. The below double vanity from Schots is a lovely reproduction.

A 'lil bit of vintage

Given the right environment vintage pieces can work into any home. Contrast with contemporary and modern interiors and mix with tribal and country cottage styles to get the best out of your pieces.

A perfect buffet and shelving unit with worn rustic paint in pale blue and white. Perfect for a display piece or can be used for a more functional purpose in the kitchen or bedroom.

I adore this beautifully upholstered piece. Perfect colour, perfect shape and perfect casters. Despite the girly colour and classical upholstery this piece would look perfect in an entry foyer, lounge or dining room, bedroom or, most perfectly of all, a huge walk in dressing room!

The thing I love most about this kitchen is the vintage buffet centre piece is so unexpected, yet it works perfectly with this kitchen. The height, size and storage capacity of this number makes for a perfect island bench. It's also easy to clean the floors underneath due to the height of the legs. If you were feeling a little fancy you could get some marble cut to shape and place on top as some extra protection for the wood and to provide a fantastic cutting, dough and preparation surface.

The combination of heavy wooden vintage coffee table with brightly coloured upholstered furniture really compliment each other. This room would looks so different if a white or modern coffee table was used.

Weekend Ramblings...

I spent an amazing weekend with a wonderful girlfriend rummaging through vintage shops and flea markets. It was exhausting and inspiring at the same time. Happy Monday (again!) hope you all had a wonderful weekend. What did you get up to?

Thursday Morning Inspiration

This morning I am inspired by this gorgeous image. I think it is a combination of the soft teal/turquoise wall colour, the eclectic collection of teapots and their different shapes, sizes and colours. It's a little bit crazy and happy. I hope you all have a crazy happy day!
