Diane Von Furstenberg's Greenwich Village Apartment

As you'd expect, Diane Von Furstenberg's apartment is filled with earthy furniture, amazing pattern and exquisite furniture pieces. Much like her fashion line her home is a testament to her passion for design and exquisite taste. Intriguing pattern and artisian style furniture pieces ensure a home of longevity as opposed to fast-moving style trends.

The teak free-standing bath is truly amazing and reins supreme in this main bathroom. The painted room dividers and timber features bring this bathroom down to earth.

I love the combination of the tree-like table and animal patterns in the rug and on the chairs. The abundance of plantlife injects a serene tribal-eqsue vibe.

I love the idea of a massive self portriat in ones house. But I think you have to be famous...don't you?  The mustard leather couch is gorgeous.

Reminiscent of camping under the stars in Africa, this octagon-shaped bed canopy is cosy and comfortable. The open ceiling conservatory style ceiling is just amazing. Imagine the view at night time.

The dining room which often doubles as an office space - this is where the magic happens. The inspiration pouring from this room is over whelming - colour, pattern, shape, worldy artifacts and a colossal mood baord make for productive think-tanks.

Colour Inspiration : Tangerine Tango

And the prediction goes to...................TANGERINE TANGO Pantone Colour of 2012.

And I love it. It is vibrant, bright, cheerful and a little cheeky. Pops of tangerine tango (or orange, perhaps!) throughout your rooms adds some unexpected interest. Here are a few fashions finds and some interiors inspiration.

Orange and pale blue always partner well.

Great bedside, very light and fresh. Again with the orange and pale blue combination.

Love these curtains - the room wouldn't be the same without them.

An exterior with personality - divine.

A couple of orangey vignettes.

Pops of orange colour in the bathroom eliminates some starkness from the all-white base.

These stools suit this kitchen perfectly - the dark flooring works well with the orange tones.

I love the style of this attic style bedroom, but I can't help feeling it needs a little more oomph. I especially like the see-through window furnishings.

The vibrancy of the orange couch really brightens up the room. Even with all the natural lighting, without this couch the room could look a little too, um, neutral? Again with the pale blue cushions with the orange!

Ooooh, looks comfy and relaxing. The orange is not too bright for a room which is designed for winding down. I love the extra touch of the orange candle beside the bed.

The easiest way to add colour to a room - wall art. AND this is an easy DIY project - play around with come canvas and a selection of paints - see what you some up with.

A simple pop of colour in a classic chair. I love this room.

I adore these ceramic drum stools. They are available in a variety of colours from many different on-line stores. I like the combination of lots of natural wood with orange in this room.

Who doesn't love a fluffy towel after their daily scrub? The pattern on this towel is ace.

Orange combined with pastel colours works too. The additions of pink, yellow and pale orange have created a sorbet themed room.

Beautiful dining chairs around an oval table. Don't drop your dinner on these!

I like the combination of pattern in this room, spots, stripes, floral, criss-cross and solid.

Stairway to Heaven

Love the multi-coloured balustrade. Very fresh.

The organic shape of this staircase projects a cave-like feel to the room.

The delicate wrought iron trellis on this staircase makes me want to move to the Mediterranean.

Gorgeous bright colours for a white palette. Lots of fun.

I love the natural wood and the landing at the top of the first set of stairs. A down to earth yet spectacular installment.

The Window maketh the Room

The first thing I noticed about these rooms was their amazing windows. Big, Wide, Tall, shapely and beautiful, these windows truly do maketh the room.

This bi-fold window system which spans the entire width of the room, draws the eye outside and lets in an abundance of natural light.

Arched windows each has the ability to be opened separately. This window takes advantage of the high ceilings in this room. Looks gorgeous.

Conservatory style windows are nothing short of spectacular. This installation makes for a sunny room in the warmer months and would give you a perfect view of a storm during the colder seasons.

Roof light / sky light perfectly positioned at the peak of the roof to allow massive amount of light in and make this attic style room appear larger.

I love this window. It is perfectly highlighted by the charcoal coloured walls and is the feature of this bedroom. The absence of window furnishings also makes this circular window stand out.

This classic bay window is highlighted by the candy pink and peacock blue paint. It stand quite high and each of the window panels opens out. Cute.

A view like this deserves such a massive window piece. Taking full advantage of the fantastic view - this would be beautiful when the sun went down.

Attic style push-out windows are perfect for this room. A gorgeous alternative to a standard window frame.

The bi-fold windows let in plenty of light but the mirrors hung around the room reflect the light and brighten up the room even more.

Floor to windows create an extension to the room and, again, let in an abundance of light. Perfect spot for breakfast.

More conservatory style windows letting in lots of natural light. Often used in city buildings where wall space is occupied by neighbouring structures.

Glass french doors leading to a small courtyard are the perfect addition to this glamorous bathroom. The dark tiles, heavy filigree mirror and dark vanity are instantly brightened.

Cool Lighting

Some rooms wouldn't be the same without their lighting centre-pieces. Here are some cool ones I discovered this morning.

This round pendant is reminiscent of a cloud with the help of soft sheepskin throws and swan decor. The all-white wall and ceiling base and the positioning of the pendant above the table sees it hang as a dream-like cloud.

This pendant light adds an element of difference to a monochrome colour palette. I love the brass tube style globe covers. This style of pendant light works well because there is a lot of pattern and shape going on in this room.

A twin set of soft industrial style pendants. I doubt these lights would have the same effect if they were painted in silver, white or black, the pop of yellow makes the frame stand-out and shows off the large drop bulb inside.

I adore these art-deco style silver baubles. Kinda look like big bubbles from a kids bubble maker. The position over the dining table makes for intimate dining.

W.O.W. I wouldn't want to be the one to have to clean it, but it looks amazing. Thousands of coin-shaped pieces of shell are hung from dainty chain-link to create an orb shaped chandelier. The globe sits snuggled in the centre of the huge shell orb. This would project a gorgeous soft light and the coin-shaped shells would cast a peaceful pattern around the room.

This pendant is as much a room feature as it is a light. The black colour projects a slight masculine vibe and and the spiky arms create a bold shape.  Positioned over a work-desk means they mean business. I love the additional miniature spiky orbs they have planted around the room tying in the magnificence of the pendant.

I adore the beachy, laid-back vibe of this beaded pendant. Love the combined colours of turquoise and lime it brightens up the whole room.

This french provincial style glass and metal orb hangs beautifully above the kitchen island bench. Rather ran being a directional down light (which most pendants hung over kitchen benches can be) this one would light up the whole room. I love the ornate pattern running around the metal circumference of the orb.

Crystal chandelier in the bathroom? Why not. It pares perfectly with champagne and bubbles.

This vintage style glass orb hung over a dining table adds an element of antiquity to an otherwise bold and new room. I love the pattern it casts onto the ceiling.
