Beautiful Bamileke

Add colour and texture to your wall by hanging a Bamileke Feather Headdress over a fireplace or above the bed. For a large wall space group two, three or four headdresses of the same colour together. This striking African Feather Headdress (they can also be called a Juju Hat) is traditionally worn by royal dancers of the Bamileke tribe during important ceremonies. Symbolising prosperity, they are rare objects of beauty believed to possess the positive qualities of birds.

Bamileke Feather Headdress are handmade in Cameroon with dyed chicken feathers and are hand stitched into a woven raffia basket. It folds into itself for easy transportation and storage. You can purchase these amazing pieces from online store Safari Fusion and get some decorating inspiration below. They look amazing. Happy Friday!!

They are also available in dark blue, teal, yellow, red and magenta pink!

Very Swanky Indeed

The New York City apartment of Hollywood actress Hilary Swank is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G all 1,400 square feet of it.
Elle Decor presented this gorgeous apartment in the December 2011 issue. The apartment has a simple colour palette and refined furnishings which offers a down-to-earth almost artisan vibe with wooden carvings, furniture and nick-knacks. I love the huge round mirror hung over the side board and that free-standing bath just exudes luxury.
You can check out Elle Decor here and check out the pictures of her humble abode below.

Fruits of the Season

Interior Design can draw inspiration from anywhere. The blooming fruits of the warmer season are upon us and have led me to look to some 'fruit-colour' inspired interiors. Watermelon, mango, berry and kiwi; these colours can work as an entire wall installation or bright injections of colour through soft furnishings.

Dine Me - Alfresco Style

Nothing beats eating alfresco style in the warmer months. With the on-set of Spring I encourage you to set up an eating oasis in your backyard / courtyard / front stoop, (anywhere you can enjoy the spring air!), grab a glass of wine and absorb the lovely season.

Save the plastic cutlery for the kids park, bring out your gorgeous looking tableware, cutlery and serving spoons and set a mood with candles, lanterns, throw rugs and outdoor chairs.

Amp it up with pops of colour and some new season patterns.
Here's some inspiration....go nuts. xx

The masterful Anna Spiro from interior design firm Black + Spiro, and blog absolutelybeautifulthings.blogspot.com, designed the above oasis. The bright colour just screams 'spring'.

A simple, yet gorgeous and enjoyable spot for a food session from LivingEtc.

I would sit at this above setting all night. With the overhead globes giving a tranquil light and the gorgeous spring flowers on the table top...what more would you need?

And this gem is from Perfect Pieces, who wholesale amazing outdoor and indoor furniture.

The Essential Oil Burner

I am in love with this Essential Oil Burner from top3.com.au. (Design-nerds will love this awesome website - filled with innovative design products!).

The Essential Oil Burner has a science / medieval / early-century theme. "The dark heaviness of the metal components and clamp create a beautiful contrast with the Tasmanian oak hardwood base, and glass flask. The metal trims of the burner have a slightly worn effect, which is beautiful against the natural wood."

Available NOW through top3.com.au in their latest catalogue. (Which is huge, by the way!)

So simple and very effective, it will work in a number of interior styles.
