6 of the Best : Lamps

Some rooms wouldn't be complete if they did not have lamps: bedrooms, living and lounge rooms. Factors to consider are colour, texture and size. Consider the rest of the furniture in the room, is it dark with brass or gold fittings or light and bright with silver fittings. Ensure your lamp choices reflect this.
Ensure that your lamp shade fabric choice compliments the existing soft furnishings in the room; bedspread, cushions and throws or in the lounge room consider the material on your sofa, chairs and window furnishings.

Top Tips:
  • Lamps with frosted glass shades bring a warm glow into a room.
  • Always position a lamp so it is within reach to turn on and off and so it is easily moved if required
  • A lamp which is too small can make a space look too sparse, and on the contrary, a lamp which is too large can make a space look too small and squishy.
  • Lamps always look good in a 'twin set'. Check out a post about this here.
  • Lamp shades and bases can always be changed as your interior styles develop.
  • Only place a soft globe into a lamp so it creates an intimate light.
Here are a few of my faves.

Beacon Lighting. I LOVE the colour combination in this base.

Inside Avenue. Gorgeous base colour - remember the shade is easily changed if white is not your preference. This would make a perfect bedside lamp.

Inside Avenue. I love the heaviness of this lamp. Perfect match with leather and wooden furniture with a neutral colour palette. Coastal and country interiors are a perfect base.

Inside Avenue. A Gorgeous lamp perfect for bedroom or living room. A twin set of this lamp would look stunning on a side board.
Inside Avenue. This is my fave due to it's amazing texture and neutral colour. It is so versatile, will work in any room of the home and will pare well with timber, white or coloured furniture pieces.

Laura Ashley. A feminine style lamp, perfect for a beauty dresser or bedside lamp.
